Hi Guys
Long story short:
2015 model, recall was done a month ago; she was working just fine.
I went away for 20 days, came back, connected the battery to the trickle charger before taking her out, turned the key to on position, the usual lights came on the dashboard, head light on, fuel pump made the usual noise; pressed the start button and everything died on the bike; key to off back to on position and nothing, no lights, or fuel pump, just death.

All fuses are ok, battery is ok and fully charged, nothing looks out of ordinary.

Tried again after checking all the above and the bike did the same.

I'am clueless, any ideas? What should I check?

Sounds like a bad battery connection.

Ensure the battery terminals are clean and tight then check the earth cable where it bolts to the motor.

I'll second the battery terminal probability. Tighten the connections. They can feel solid but a little extra made the difference on my bike as well as others. Did you do the recall that included the ground connection to the engine case? If not and tightening doesn't do it, replace the main fuse on the starter relay with the spare. See #12.

If the above doesn't work, your battery is likely dead. Trickle charger will not tell you if your battery is good. Even load testing at Walmart can sometimes not identify a battery that has a short in it.

Thanks everyone.

I did swap the main fuse for the spare one.

Tested the battery with multimetre and reads 12.9V.

Haven't checked the ground connection. Are the ground connection those two cables that can be seen under the main fuse once you remove the plastic cover?

I will go downstairs and re-tight the battery connections.
Will update later.

You are looking for the big wire that is bolted to the negative post on the battery, it will run forward from the battery and down to the back of the motor.

The connection at the motor has been poor on some bikes and has been part of the recall work.

As GW said just nipping up the bolt may not be enough to fix your problem you should undo it and clean all the surfaces.

As a quick test if you have a set of jumper cables you could hook one end to the battery's negative terminal and the other to a unpainted metal surface on the bike then hit the starter, if things work as they should you know that the earth/ground is the problem.

Ok an update.

Tightened the battery terminals, checked the ground connections, bike started up first time.
Turned it off, tried again and same problem than before.

Took the battery out of the bike, inspected it was all good; gave it a good clean, same with the cables.

Put everything together and the bike seems to be working ok now.

Hope that the problem is sorted now.

I had the same problem and it was the ground issue from the recall. I am 99% sure that's what it is. Bring it in or you'll be stranded somewhere.

Umm. You probably right.
Will book the bike for inspection as it is still under warranty.
Will keep you guys posted.
