Mt wee has a lowering link and a centerstand. I cannot get it on the center stand without putting about 1in. piece of wood under rear tire! After I got it up, I scooted it all the way across the garage sliding on the stand trying to rock it off the stand. I put trailing arm spools on it today and bought a bike stand but still cannot get it up!!! Any hints that may help? I am considering taking the center stand off and have it shortened. The side stand is already shortened.

maybe your wee is upset of your forum handle.:yikes:

mine is tad difficult to get on the cs as well. it requires all my weight on the pedal and a fairly good effort in lifting. i suspect the PO lowered my vee but ive never gotten around to checking since i'm vertically challenged as it is.

I had the same problem with my lowered Vee initially. It is very simple.

The trick is you have to have the bike balanced on BOTH legs of the center stand before you stand on the center stand leg. If the bike is leaning on one side stand leg only it will not go up.

Once you have it balanced on both legs, stand on it, then pull up with your right hand on the passenger grip at the back, while putting all your weight on the center stand peg, it will go up. Once you figure it out its easy.

To get it off, you just need to push quickly from stand still, both hands on grips (one each side), while you are standing on the left side. You could even put your foot in front of the center stand to trip it, or put something heavy on the ground in front of it. Just be careful when it drops down that you don't drop the bike. Concentrate on what you are doing and it comes off easily. Be sure you have your side stand up before trying to get it off center stand.

I can even get mine off center stand while sitting on it with some forward motion. Keep both feet down so it doesn't fall.

lowered

my 2007 Wee is lowered 3/4" at the rear, and has an OEM center stand, I get it up ok with not extra help or wood blocks. Its all in the technique. My Happy Trails stand was awful for the same lowering.

Well, I purchased trailing arm spools and a rear bike lift and there is no enough leverage to lift the heavy bike with it! Dang!! My son, a big fellow, cannot begging to lever it up on the center stand as it is set up now! I will be taking to a friend in Tuesday morning and I will have the center stand removed, shortened and re mounted so I can use it easily! Just have to remember that if the lowering links are removed the center stand will need another modification.

Lowered Bike with Center Stand

My Glee's lowered 3/4 inches. I bought a used Happy Trail CS. I had the same issue, had to get a 3/4 board to get it on the stand.

I took the CS off and took it to a welder. Asked him to take 3/4 inch off it. He put threaded rods through the mounting holes so as not to warp the hole alignment. He did a good job and charged me $50.

Works like a charm now.

I can understand the CS issue (I don't have one, but have heard the issues with a lowered bike), however, I don't understand not getting it up on a rear stand with spools, since the swingarms (and therefore the spools) are not any lower with the links on...

Yeah I was surprised I couldn't get it up either. Tuesday morning I will take it to have it shortened for $45. Thanks for the hint on the threaded rod.

The BAD is getting a lowered V-Strom on the centerstand due to a bad angle of attack after lowering. I'm 5'4", past
retirement age, and trying to conserve my strength.

The GOOD is how high the tire is off the ground once it's up, due to the new dogbones limiting wheel drop. Soooo
much clearance to remove the wheel, room to work on the rear end, etc. Really paid off a couple times when
working repairs in a gravel filled parking lot away from home.

A few pounds can make a big difference in getting the bike up. Remove the side and top cases first. I carry this
in my top box. After a 750 mile day, I'll even screw in the preload adjustment the extra 10-15 turns. Up it goes!

Well went to guy that was going to shorten the center stand today. He is a BMW rider and came from a Vee. It turns out the center stand was already shortened and whoever did it, did an amazing job. So no shortening. Ernie spent some time with me showing the technique and it goes right up. He did lower the front about 1/2 in. It had never been lowered and for handling, what you do to the back must be done to the front tubes -- as long as there is no clearance problems. He also fixed the fog light that wasn't working. Just a loose connection at the relay. Good to go now and save $$
