Hey All,

I'm looking to find a company that does bike shipping. The end of next month my wife and I are riding to Western Canada. Time restraints (and her sensitive butt) mean that we will spend our entire holiday just riding out there so the plan is (was?) to ship the bike home. So far, I've only found one company and its pretty pricey.

It would be a pick-up in Vancouver, BC and drop off in Barrie, or Toronto, Ontario.

Anyone have suggestions?

I don't have any suggestions, just a warning. My brother bought a bike off ebay last year and had it shipped. It didn't arrive for 3 months. This was after contracting three different companies. The problem was that none of the companies would load the bike until they had a truck with just the right amount of cargo space going in the exact direction they wanted, so the bike just sat there. Unfortunately most of the shipping companies require that you put down a deposit and if you cancel the contract before 30 days is up it is nonrefundable. So, if two weeks goes by and they haven't shipped your bike, you can't just call some one else. So, just make sure that whoever you contract will actually pick the bike up in a timely manner and deliver it in a timely manner. What they advertise and what they do are two different things.

Shipping a bike isn't as easy as shipping a car.

That said, Good Luck!

This is based on stuff I've read, not personal experience, so take it with a big dollup of cynicsm... You could check the websites of the places that arrange motorcycle tours. They often mention who they do shipping with, and sometimes provide a link.
