I just picked up a set of HotGrips heated grips and all I can say is, wow are these uncomfortable (padding wise). I thought the stock grips were bad, but there is absolutely no padding on the hot grips, just a thin layer of rubber over the plastic inserts. So, are there any other options for grips with integrated heating elements that are better padded? Thanks.

They are the new style. I can't imagine the old style if these are more comfortable.

The grip puppies sound like a great idea, except the HotGrips start out fatter than stock as is. So, with the grip puppies, the grip would be enormous.

I haven't installed them yet, so I'm going to see if the company I ordered from will take them back and send me a set of Oxford heated grips. Any improvement would be welcome in comfort, if only a little bit. They also look as thin as stock, so hopefully the grip puppies will work.

Thanks.

These are some options:

1) Dual Star - http://www.dual-star.com/index2/Rider/heated_grip_kit1.htm
Pros - Cheap, and you can use any aftermarket grip
Cons - User reports of the wires breaking loose are common for this type of grip heater, but BradM on this site says this is not an issue for the Dual Stars

2) Oxford Heaterz - http://lockitt.com/AccessoriesGrips3.htm#oxhg
Pros - Cheap, may be softer than HotGrips. Call Patrick at Lockitt to ask about softness - he seems to be very knowledgable about the products he sells.
Cons - Made is Asia - no local support like HotGrips. Cheesy looking controller. Lack of user reviews and other info on internet.

3) CLS Heated Grips - http://11109.rapidforum.com/topic=107676569130
Pros - Fully automatic - users claim they are the best heated grips available.
Cons - Expensive. Not available anywhere is USA - you have to source them from Germany. No local support of any kind.

Hope this helps
