Have had the wee for 3 months and had not got in a long ride yet. Have some long multiday rides coming up so wanted to do a 4-500 day to see how that went with the stock seat. Sorting thru my gear stash noticed the bead seat that got lots of use on the ST. Put it on and suffered thru the first 50 miles then realized that all was good. Like my chair at work. Slide around once in awhile to get the 200 fingertip massage and all was good. At about the 400 mile mark it started to feel like the first 50 miles so took it off. Made the next 100 miles feel like I had the best possible seat man had ever made.
Maybe now there is a solution to the "seat problem" that can be cured for
$12.95. Wonders never cease.........

I have used both, the Alaska Leather fur pelt and the Walmart bead-rider, and I have been using the bead-rider for my daily commute not for almost three months. I ride about 24 miles one way to work when weather allows me to get to work dry. (I don't care if I get wet coming home because I have dry clothes here.) So far, I like the bead-rider better because of the ventilation. Plus, if it rains, like I've experienced, I stay dry because the rain drains away under the bead-rider instead of pooling my my crotch, which is, well, nasty! I have a big ride scheduled in a couple of weeks so I'll have a chance to try the bead-rider out for a multi-day ADV ride averaging about 125 miles per day. I did ride it on a 225 mile day trip and was pleasantly surprised so I don't anticipate any real problems. I vote for the bead-rider: YMMV :beatnik:

I've been happy with the Bead Rider also. I bought mostly for added air flow in the Texas summer heat, and after a 5 hour ride last weekend I'm still happy with the purchase. With the beads and with fancy underwear I had none of the sore-hiney issues I'd had in the past.

Happy motoring

I have run the Alaska Leather pelt over the beads and it seems to work pretty good. The beads alone can feel a little firm and the pelt softens the ride. However, then I'm back to worrying about getting the pelt wet with the potential for rain. I prefer just to ride the beads and let the rain fall where it may... :beatnik:

There is no single answer. It all depends on your butt. A bead rider increased my stock seat time by 50%--from two hours to three. Other riders are good for two to three days or weeks.

hi, i have bought the alaksa leather sheep skin seat also. it was a great purchase. yes, it was $54 dollars but its worth its weight in gold. i've ridin in the rain with it and it dries out just as new. when i did the saddle sore 1k it was a great help. althouth i have not tryed a bead seat i am still partial the the sheep skin, both my parent run the sheep skin seat covers and thry swear by them.
