My 2005 DL650 had a Fault Indication #49 Pair Valve, but never any battery problems. I took it to a well known mechanic who replaced the part. It still shows the fault. He said he thought it was in the computer. As it ran fine I just said to hell with the issue. several weeks later my battery is running down so I buy a new Yuasa battery. I install it and more of the same. So this morning I leave the house with a new battery charged to 13.07 volts. I ride 15 minutes to work. I leave work at 5:00 and it has trouble starting but does and I make it home. I check the voltage to 12.85v. I try and start it but it wont do it. I try a couple of minutes later and it finally turns over and starts. I checked the voltage5 hours later and without running it has dropped to 12.74v. I checked it a week ago when running and it registered 14.70. So I don't know if 1. my new battery could be bad, 2. I have a short that is depleting my battery or 3. my mechanic may have pinched some wiring when putting my bike back together, 4. some other thing unknown to me is my problem. Has anybody had any similar experience. Does anybody have any advice on what to do next?

Thanks for the thoughts. Some things there I hadn't yet considered. I plan to check the start switch and load test the battery tomorrow to begin with. Just the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks and weather permitting i'll let you know what happens good or bad.

Ok, I disassembled the starter switch and put it back together again. Nothing changed but I know what its not and my switch is in good condition now. I get out the manual and start at the beginning of the electrical section. It says to check for a voltage leak. with it should be less than 3ma. Mine reads 14.0 SO, it instructs me to begin removing connectors in an effort to isolate the problem. The first one I remove is the ECU. The leak drops to 1.0ma. My mechanic had stated that he thought the ECU was the only remaining source of my pair valve fault. So what do you guys think. I don't really even know if my theory is valid. Any idea of a source for an ecu that isn't $1100? Discouraged in Louisville. What I really need is a VStromer who lives in the area and would let me test with theirs but it is a lot of wishful thinking I suppose.
