Back at the computer!
Here is the idea.
Leave McDonalds--McGraths Hill Sat. 9:30 To Bathurst via Lake Lyle road. Then North to Eglington then thru Lewis Ponds then to Mullion Creek....From here to maybe a quick look at Lake Burrendong then Wellington. If time is on our side..some other back roads to Dubbo. About 10/15 kms of dirt and one river crossing (low level concrete) water usually only axle high on this route.

Stay o/night in c/park cabins (bring sleeping bag and towel etc)

Sunday return home via Dunnedoo (easier way home for Central Coast riders ) Lots of other details can be added but thats the bare bones of it.

NEWCASTLE and CENTRAL COAST riders are most welcome 'specially the newcomers. Any body from Bathurst area also welcome.

Don your welcome to bunk down at home Friday night if you plan to join the ride.

Add any other comments as you think of them

WARDY

OH! If it rains ....count me missing . Last six rides (over about 20 months ) have all been done in continous rain. Bugger it...no more wet rides this year at least.

Be bloody cold but............

If I can find someone to "baby sit" Belinda I might try to make it [you know her current situation Brian so I'm sure you will understand that I can't give a positive yes at this stage, it will most likely be a case of "Hi guys, I'm here for the trip" on the day at McGrath's Hill].

I'm not going if Mudrat takes us on dirt. I'm totally spooked by dirt after the trip to Bright. I'd ride the highway on the XJR.

Rain? If it's raining, count me out. I find no pleasure in riding in the rain.

Yeah I'm keen to have a look at that ... lived in Dubbo for 40 years and have a daughter there. So I may be in a warm double bed rather than camping it but ... I am looking forward to meeting other V Strommers and putting a face to the forum names ... this seems like the perfect chance ...

Going over the mountains in June will be cold ...

A trip down the Bylong Valley may be the long way home for Newcastle Central Coasters ....

Dubbo -Dunedoo-Casilis-Merriwa-Denman-Branxton will be the shortest way to the Central Coast areas. What ever suites riders, whatever is easiest.
Hope to meet up with you, and bring some others too.

Back ROADS TO DUBBO....25TH/26th JUNE

Glen; I haven't ridden the Bylong road since it was sealed so that was many years ago. It's written up to be a great ride now it's sealed. I read somewhere that the bloke (not a GUY for crisake) who graded it was a local motorcyclist who paid special attention to the finish so he could himself enjoy the fruits of his labour. Excellent!!

The caravan park I had in mind is called the Dubbo City Caravan Park, I think! It's near the western side of the main bridge ( L.H.ford Bridge.) It's about 200 meters to the West Side hotel motel. My boss owned and built it 1969/70when I was an apprentice. I worked on it every day during it's construction.
I haven't made any enquiries with the c/p as yet, till I get some rough idea how many are coming.I will check to enquire if there is any big functions in town that weekend.
I will post details early next week. BTW have you heard from D.L. lately. hope he can make it to the ride.

Thanx Brian
I drive the BVW regularly with my work and have ridden it a few times as well.
some of the dirt from the mudgee end can get a bit "ordinary" after rain, but the tar (from Bylong iirc) is magic, you can follow it to Sandy Hollow or take the deviation (alittle bit more easy dirt) through to Denman or Jerrys Plains and on to Broke. (thats the way I'll be heading home )

Geez Graham; the ride is 31/2 weeks away....how much work you gotta do?
I bet he's got lots to do.

He did go to the US for a while you know :fineprint:

However, he took the Mrs. and kids for the holiday there.

Surely that must have earned some "brownie points" to allow an overnight trip to Dubbo though :confused:

Hi Wardy & Ors,

I'm in for the trip, been a while since we all met up, so hopefully by then we're all done with the :furious: rain or MIST as Don calls it!

What's with the "Big Girl's Blouse" Ron, doesn't want to do the dirt  he made it through the roughest stuff that Muddy threw at him on the way to Bright, came out better than me in fact :yesnod:

Thanks for organising this Brian, looking forward to it

:cheers2:

Hello,

I did a similar route a week ago, higly recommended Bathurst via Tarana, we put in a lap of mount panorama at Bathurst, you will need a couple of bucks entry at Burrendong recreation area but there is a sportsmans club nearby the Mumbil end of the lake, The cut back from Dubbo to Mudgee via Gollan and Goolma is now sealed all the way (motorcycle atlas is incorrect), some road works on the lithgow side of Mudgee but well graded. all rods were in good condition except one side of Tarana.

Enjoy the trip,

Unfortunatley " brownie points " tend to get used up real quick by me . Trip to Aderlaide to buy another bike , Wintersun Rally in two weeks , and I didn't do this and I didn't do that ....

Besides they are ALL on me about going back to the USA for a much bigger Holiday .
Brownie Points are BLOODY exspensive !!! Just like most "points " schemes you need about 100,000 points to get anything and you only get 10 points for a bunch of flowers.

Struth; brownie points come with a high price tag at your house!! When all said and done what you say is par for the course from my experience and observation.
But we love em just the same.

I've got a lot to do, I haven't mowed the back lawn since BEFORE I went to the USA .

I do not known how fair I'm in debt for Brownie points but I just blew the buget yesterday and bought a $3500 massage chair . I must admitt I picked it up like new for $800 !!! from some rich people with too much money .KIds think it's great , wife well she did not talk to me last night !!!. We will see if she likes it when I bring it home today. If not I may be sleeping on the back lawn !!!

Nothing colder than sleeping with Eskimo Nell !!!!!

Yes..beds can get chilly even in summertime!!!.........But hey! they will be warm at Dubbo. I will check to be sure there are airconditioners that work as it can get cold near the river, down to -4c. I know as I once lived there.
