So many of the "Gucci" kit items talked about on the site are subject to horrendous postage and tax charges for us in the UK.
Foot peg lowering and front mudguard raising kits are just priced out of existence ...
And they appear to be top class kit ..
But ...
I can buy stuff from China and Vietnam at sensible prices .... ?!?!

Any ideas Cousins ??

Save your money for the 'top class kit'. I've bought a few 'reasonably priced' items from China, and got exactly the quality I chose not to pay for. Much cheaper to pay for 1 well built item than multiple cheaply made versions.

Is it the VAT or the Postage? Even split? If it's postage, I agree with others. Try to split the cost with other owners.

I had to do some research and here's what I found:

A) Most Goods and Services valued UNDER £135 have a 20% VAT Rate
Goods and services shipped to the UK with a value between £0.01 and £135 (between $1 and approximately $180 USD) will incur VAT fee of 20% of the product price (not including shipping fees). U.S. online retailers selling products to UK buyers are require to collect this 20% VAT fee at the time of sale. Online retailers will be responsible to pay all VAT collected to HMRC every three months.

The Asian stuff has to be SUPER LOWER PRICED to make them palatable, as the distance is greater and so is the Exchange Rate, one would think the price difference would equal out the lower cost of the item you're buying.
I bought something recently from 2x2 Cycles for the Strom which came to $130 USD shipped to the UK. It didn't attract import tax or VAT. Shipping was only $30.

If we ever get a decent trade deal with the US (might be a while...) then it'll be great to buy parts for the bikes. Fingers crossed.
(More likely to happen than £1 = $2 which it was c.2009-10 - it was much cheaper to buy OEM bags for my XVS1300 from the US and pay shipping/import duty/VAT than to buy in the UK)
How about US shipping rates on international sales over $100. Will that do?

Evening Chaps, I'm going to post on the UK Strom forum and see if i can get a bulk order sent to my business, I may be able to recover the VAT for all parties ...
Leave it with me ..
