ARIZONA RIDERS

Wanted to reach out to y'all and see if anyone is interested in doing the AZ BDR in chunks over the next bit of time. Get together on a Saturday or Sunday morning, meet up, do a chunk of it, ride home to do the significant other/kids/pets thing. As great as it would be to do it all in one time, I know that I do not have the time in my personal life with planning a wedding, landscape projects, work, and maintaining some level of normalcy with it.

Anyone else up for setting up doing some group rides and taking it on little by little??

Sounds like it would be a lot of fun... I don't think I have any time right now on my dance card... hope others hook up with you and makes it happen

Im in!

I usually ride on Sundays. I can do Sat and Sunday fairly often though. The weather is going to start cooling reasonably soon.....

I just ordered the butler map for the BDR after I saw this post

I hear you on projects and life getting in the way though. A day or two at a time sounds perfect to me.

Glad to see there is some interest.

My plan is to start working this once the new year kicks in. Try and get the first chunk done around the MLK holiday timeframe, basically from the border to about Tuscon or so im thinking.

If any of you are interested still let me know and we can start to plan something out!

I'm in! Might be a bit late to this post but would definitely love to explore the AZ BDR in bits. I usually ride with a buddy that is not registered on stromtrooper but we've talked about the route.

Did you go on MLK weekend?

I'm still Interested in this. I don't think it happened on MLK weekend.

as far as being Vee friendly, I think so. There are some sandy sections that suck on either bike, but would be even suckier on a the big one. There are usually bypass routes though for the nasty sections.

lets ride ya'll

I will be hitting the first and maybe second sections tomorrow. I will start over in sierra vista as it seems easier and will be travelling solo. I'll try to work my way up from there, let me know if you guys can join.

Solo ride - Sections 1-2

Hey guys, the first two sections were a lot of fun. I won't be riding solo next time though. I underestimated the trickier sections was carrying too much weight. There were a couple of times where I thought about turning back but it was probably too late anyway. I uploaded a clip summary of the fun parts of day one titled AZBDR Section 1 on a V-Strom 650 on youtube. I can't post links yet.

Let me know if/when you want to meet up for a ride north of Globe.

Hey sorry I haven't been on for a while. Ended up doing the PCH a month back and prep work for that put a HUGE damper on doing the AZDBR route. And now I'm getting married in Nov. so time/finances are in short supply.

I still want to do this though. Summer makes the lower sections non-enjoyable to say the least. I'm going to head up tomorrow to do some hardball going from Phx to Payson, Show Low, down to Globe and back. I know they have had some fires up north recently so I'll check out if they are closing out roads, but it looks like in the initial research the east side of the state is doing well.

Honestly, I would love to have a get together with everyone interested and spend a couple hours and build out a gameplan that works for everyone who is interested. Proper planning seems to be the best way to go about this and plus I would like to meet some of the AZ riders too.
