Does an 04 1K have sufficient amperage to run all these at the same time?


Gerbings jacket = 77W on high
PIAA ATV lights = 30*2 = 60W
Symtec grips = 36W on high
Sirius radio = 1W ?
Autocom pro = 2W ?
cell phone charge = 1W ?
batery monitor = 1W ?

accessories = maybe 150 watts total?

I've been watching the battery monitor

Jacket
Grips
autocom
Sirius
NO PIAA

and battery monitor goes red at idle 1100 rpm
turns green going down the road

I would imagine that if left idling the spark would
adventually deminish and the bike would stull???

You have about 100 to 125 watts to work with at speed. I think I read somewhere that this is at about 5,000 rpm but I don't remember for sure. At idle, significantly less. There's no way you're going to be able to run all of that though.

you should be ok, when you come to a stop and the bike idles with turn signal and or brakes on you may momentarily go into a discharging mode

how often do you have your jacket liner or grips on high?

You have about 100 to 125 watts to work with at speed. I think I read somewhere that this is at about 5,000 rpm but I don't remember for sure. At idle, significantly less. There's no way you're going to be able to run all of that though.
the 1000 has 25 or more watts more capability than the 650

Total watts output at 5000rpm.

2002 DL1000 - 350W
2003 and later DL1000 - 400W
2004-2007 DL650 - 375W
2008 and later DL650 - 400W

Do you think it would hurt to run on the "red" line...
ie. ..Discharging at idle and charging when rolling?
Bad for battery or charging system?

If severly overloaded, what is the result?
Other than dead battery of coarse.

Well...I must have pushed the electrical system too hard...

no instrument cluster
no lights
no horn
engine runs fine

time to troubleshoot

Check the large connector under the rubber boot inside the left fairing cowling for discoloration indicating an overheated and failed connection.
