Hey fellow troopers I'm new here not sure if I'm putting this in the right area, but I did some searching and couldn't find a whole lot on this subject I'm looking to be able to stay in the seat about 300 miles between fill ups and was wondering if any of you guys had any aux fuel tank diy or decent priced riggs that you bought and where to get them. Fuel bottles don't really appeal to me since I will be hooking it up through the fuel tank vent line as well as adding a vent to whatever aux tank I put on looking forward to hearing from you guys on this subject. Oh btw I get about 200 miles per tank right now before the last bar starts blinking on my 2006 Vee.

Thanks in advance!

Ty

Thank you I hadn't seen that one. Well I was hoping to get something plastic. Idk how the metal would hold up if I dropped her off road.

No actual experience with these but made with aluminium and baffles.
Appear professional and strong.
I think damaging these with a drop would be the least of your worries.
Your fuel tank is metal any way.
Simpler way is a milk crate strapped on back seat with plastic fuel containers. But then you have to stop to refill.

I got a Kolpin 1.25 gallon unit. Not sure when I'm gonna use it. My buddy on his Stelvio would be begging before I ran out of fuel.
I thought about getting a slightly dented DL gas tank and adding a section grafted on the front of the tank lobes to increase the capacity. Some guys have made grafts to the top of the tank for more go juice. Kinda ugly though and affect war you put a tank bag.

Yeah I've seen those grafted tanks pretty ugly and I use the crap out of my tank bag so no way I could mess that up! I'm thinking about finding some small tanks that are low profile enough to mount on the inside of the front fairing in all that open space, remembering my fork clearance of course. I just don't like the aluminum touratech tank look and yeah its not that I could ride 300 miles without stopping its just being able to stop more at Vista views and stuff like that without worrying about gassing up would be awesome!

I found one for 40$ that looks perfect for mounting to the top of my pelican case! I guess I could hook the aux fuel tank up to the fuel tank vent house so it would drain it first

I got my Kolpin for 50$. Much lighter than the Rotopak. The mount is plastic vs whatever the metal is for the Roto. The Roto has some serious hardware weight..
The Kolpin does not have the same locking feature of the Roto, I think I've got work around figured out though.
Where you are considering putting spare tanks is the same area I thought of enlarging the gas tank. Seems to be lots of room for some metal. The tank would look a bit odd and may not come off as easily with pods stuck on the front of the lobes.
Mounting fuel pods up in the plastic might be a question of what to hang them on. It's tempting though. A couple MSR bottles may fit there.

Different question? How are you staying in your seat for 300 miles? You must have a custom seat; stock seat will kill your bottom for that length of time.

No I dont stay in for 300 miles I can for 200 tho I just have a 2 ply wool chamois folded under my butt works good and keeps the sweat away 13$ at your local wally world!

I just want the extra fuel for the convenience of not stopping for gas so soon, I posted that at the beginning, just so I can have ease of mind and I'm kind of a tech geek I think it would be cool to do the custom setup that just feeds into the tank without stopping to fill up with the aux tank!
