Last year, I paid $5200 in the DC metro area for a pristine, orange 2009 with 350 miles on it. Only option it had was a centerstand.

I found a grey 09 last year with givi bags, center stand, and 250 miles for what I considered an insanely low price of $4500.00. I had just paid almost retail for an orange 09, and couldn't pass this one up, so now I have 2 09 wee-stroms, and hope I live long enough to wear them both out!! It's doubtful, since I'm 58 years old now!

Before I bought my V-Strom 650 a few weeks ago, I did a lot of research and price comparisons. I admit to being a data-geek, who likes to analyze things in Excel. I've pasted in below, data I collected for 2009 Wee-Stroms.

Brand / Model / Year / Miles / Price
Suzuki / V-Strom 650 / 2009 / 140 / $7,000
Suzuki / V-Strom 650 / 2009 / 1,435 / $6,000
Suzuki / V-Strom 650 / 2009 / 1,750 / $6,850
Suzuki / V-Strom 650 / 2009 / 8,935 / $5,500
Suzuki / V-Strom 650 / 2009 / 18,000 / $5,500
Suzuki / V-Strom 650 / 2009 / 21,150 / $6,000
Suzuki / V-Strom 650 / 2009 / 24,000 / $5,100
Avg Price for 2009 Model = $6,000

Prices posted by private sellers may be from anywhere in the USA. Prices from dealerships are primarily from Illinois.

It wouldn't hurt to look up NADA retail for your bike as a starting point. Then with the low mileage and the extras on the bike, you could reasonably ask high retail knowing you can negotiate a bit. If someone really wants a clean very slightly used bike and they are in your neighborhood, they'll buy it.

I just purchased a used 2007, and from my perspective, I had no interest in buying someone else's installed accessories for anything more than pennies on the dollar, anything over and above stock helped me decide which listings to pursue, but I wouldn't pay more for them. Most listings were grossly overvalued as the sellers tried to recoup the cost of aftermarket items. I stuck with a stock bike at NADA value, and am having fun making it my own. Just food for thought.

I'd certainly pay extra for someone's installed accessories IF they were the same accessories I would have installed anyway. Take off and sell any stuff that you don't want. I'd gladly pay 5,500 for a pristine '09 with accessories and only 1,000 miles, and think that is a fair asking price.

Exactly. According to NADA, that is a fair asking price for a stock 09 non-ABS, I would have taken it as well. If someone offered that bike at $7k with accessories, that's a different story.
