Hi all,

I am starting to assemble the parts for the 4 pot caliper upgrade.
Looking at Ebay, I find it difficult to tell a caliper in good shape from one that is beaten up.
they all seem to have some debris or rust or something on the lower edges and every description lists "worked well when on the bike" or something to that affect.
Any tips to tell the good from the bad?

Thanks,
YH

Try to buy some locally, there are plenty of gsxr partouts from time to time on craiglist. Those bikes always get crashed.

Check local salvage yards too. They are usually plentiful and alot of those bikes get crashed with low miles.

Question is

Doesn't matter much what the exterior looks like (at least to me) but you need to know the condition of the seals and pistons. If they were just taken off a bike, they're probably OK. If they've been sitting on a shelf for a while (or in the dirt) they've probably got dry seals and corrosion, which can be a little pricy to fix. if you can get them locally, move the pistons in (slightly) with your fingers. If they move fairly easily, then you're probably OK.
