Anyone want to go for a 4-6 day ride Labour Day weekend?

I'm doing one of three rides this upcoming weekend leaving Saturday early morning. I can't take Friday off work, but I would be open to leaving Friday afternoon (although the thought of Friday afternoon traffic doesn't sound appealing). I have a bit more flexibility on the return date. I was planning on tenting it (though I'm open to motels), and buying my food along the way.

I ride quick but not stupid. I obey speed limits in small towns. I have a Scala. I was going to wait until closer to the weekend to decide on which route to do (based on weather and stuff) - but as long as I do one of them I'm happy.

PM or post up if you're interested.

1) Gaspe (4300km 4-5 days) - via New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, up around Gaspe and then back along the south shore of the St. Lawrence.
Probable Route

2) North shore of St. Lawrence (4800km - maybe 6 days for this one) - to Natashquan (QC), up to Manic Cinq and back down, up the Saguenay to Chicoutimi and then south through Mont-Tremblant, Mont-Laurier, Pembroke, then home through the area south of Algonquin.
Probable Route

3) North shore of Lake Superior (3800km 4-5 days) - via Manitoulin, Espanola out to Thunder Bay, then head back via Chapleau, Timmins, New Liskeard, North Bay, then home via the Muskoka's.
Probable Route

Cheers!

Juan , if I could make a small route suggestion for you on the Northern route you have choosen . On your way down 144 from timmins take hwy# 560 across to New Liskard it is a far nicer ride then coming down into the Sudbury area where the roads are rough and lots of traffic I have travelled this hwy many times and is one of my favorite routes when heading north ..

Thanks for the tip. That 560 looks much nicer! It saves about 300km off the trip that can be added to much more interesting roads. I updated the original link to that map. Cheers.

On a side note, it seems that I may end up going to Gaspe instead (Route 1), unless I can find someone to ride with for either of the other routes. I just don't want to have any problems by myself that far away from anything and no cell phone signal. At least with the Gaspe route I'll be closer to stuff... or so I think.

hey! Juan I was looking to go for a good ride this weekend as so far this year I have not done a lot.If you would like to do the northern route I would be able to do most or all of it. however I would have to meet up with you ,say in Espanola ,depending on when you come accross on the ferry would determine meeeting time .... I Have traveled almost all the roads you are going on including the gravel road over to ranger lake,hwy#556 to 129... If you wish you can PM a response One thing to remember is to dress a little warmer as the temp up here is really starting to drop in the evenings ... Ps I may have to take an extra day off work ...Darn... :hurray:
