I bought one with the VStrom harness, but cannot see any connector at the back to hook the trigger lead up to. I am thinking I have to disassemble the taillight to access a suitable connector? Any tips appreciated. Thanks.

I have one on my V2. My connector is under the seat between the battery and gas tank under a rubber flap. Yours is a different model but might still be in the same general location. Just because it’s a tail light connection does not necessarily mean the back of the bike. Good luck with the install

Pay attention to this part of Eastern Beavers instructions.
"SWITCHING LEAD: I connected the VStrom Kit’s switching lead to the rear brakelight connector shown below. Other Kits will have to connect the blue Posi-Tap to a switched hot wire on the bike. You can use the tail light wire, a pilot light, or a wire feeding a brakelight switch as on the VStrom."

More info at: https://easternbeaver.com/Main/Wiring_Kits/Fuseboxes/PC-8/Installation/installation.html

You can use the heated grips circuit, or any other switched connection on the bike.

Edit: You do not have to disassemble the tail light. Just use a wiring diagram or trial and error to locate the switched wire going to the tail light.

The heated grips connector is a two pin plug with a Green/white stripe wire, and a Black/white stripe wire. It is found under the tank by the radiator.
Otherwise look for a Brown wire which turns to Green at the 5 wire plug that goes to the tail light, and the Black/White stripe earth.

, They must have changed the rear light wiring on the 2017. I did see the brake light switch coming off the rear brake, but assumed it would only be energized when the brake was on....guess it is hot with the ignition and switched through the ground wire. Will try that. Thanks a lot.

I'm don't know where the brake light connector is on the 17+ DL650, but if you look carefully on the Easter Beaver site, he has a different kind of adapter for the 17+ DLs for the PC8 than for earlier models. Apparently different type of connectors. EB has a linked section under the VStrom bike specific product for NEW DL1000s/NEW DL650s. Make sure you have the adapter listed there.

I should read more before posting questions!....noticed he used the rear brake line connector on his Vstrom. The way it is zip tied together suggests that the lead wants to go to the back of the bike with the PC-8. The brake switch connector is towards the front of the bike near the pedal. Looks like there is enough wire to fit though.

***disregard, I found the connector. It was a little buried by I got it.

Nicad, were you able to install the PC-8 with the supplies brake light lead? I received mine and am wondering which connector this is. Did you have to pull the tank to get to it?

No, the connector you need to tap into is a little bit above the brake pedal. Really nice product. The only thing I'm altering is replacing the screws that hold the cover on with knurled thumbscrews I sourced on Ebay.. I used 3M dual lock tape to hold the PC8 down behind the tool storage. I have ten feet of the stuff if you want some.
