I'm beginning to get a little worried. Oldgoat isn't responding to my PM's or cell phone attempts, which is highly unusual. :( Been almost 2 wks now. I knew he had a big trip planned but it was later in the summer. Wondering if anyone knows oldgoat up there in Canada or has seen him? Oldgoat is a damn good man and I for one would like to know he's ok.

Finally got him on the phone a few days ago. He is well and when the oldgoat gets in gear we'll be hearing from him I'm sure.

Don't know about the rest of Canada but, at this time of the year, around here, all the wise old goats head up into the mountains. Possibly to avoid to avoid the 'prarie schooners' (SK & MB RVs) :lol:

To all,

FYI, spoke to oldgoat today and he is fine.

I will be seeing him tomorrow and will inform him of your concerns, he has sold his V Strom and has bought a Burgman.

You must understand that the DL 650/1000 are too tall for him and as him log on name states he is no Spring Chicken.

He loves to ride and will surely enjoy the Burgman.

Unfortunately this forum has lost a very enthousiastic member, you never know he might start up a forum for the Suzuki Burgman!

I'm humbled by your concerns :oops:

I was in England & Wales for 4 weeks with my wife saying a last farewell in person to my brother & sister & long time friends. Medical conditions prevent us from straying too far from home these days. The medical insurance does not cover you for a lot of "existing conditions" or if your medication is changed 90 days before you leave.

That will not stop the wife & I from going to CA, OR, MT, ID, WA & BC for 4 weeks in August :D :D

We both have recently been diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation which requires a constantly monitored regimen of a blood thinner. Blood tests every few weeks to get the dose just right...don't want to bleed to death :D

The height of the big Strom had bothered me since the day I bought it. I tried many ways to lower it but none truly worked out well enough. With 155mm dogbones, forks up 21mm & a 650 seat on with its rubber bumpers removed I was relatively OK

However the 650 seat sucked as it keeps you in one position in its dip. I bought a gel seat which was very comfy for hours at a time but was too high & too wide for my short legs.

My wife is happy I sold it as I guess she worried about me :(

The Burgman is lower but is still very wide but I feel more secure. I'm not ready to call it quits on an m/c for years yet, despite Quebec puuting scandalous increases in the drivers' license fees for motorcyclist & m/c registration. It is going up by hundreds of $$ each tear for several years to comw :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:

Louis came round today as he said he would & took my MP Cycle Design w/s & my SW Motech crash bars. He is pondering my gel seat.

Am sort of a bit low at the moment. Don't want to ride the Strom in case I damage it & haven't got the Burgman yet.

I had to pony up $4500 difference. Those Burgman 650 Execs ain't cheap :evil: :evil: I do have ABS brakes now & that is a comfort. The power w/s is also a nice feature.

I will miss the raw power of the big Strom, especially accel;erating hard in 3rd, 4th & 5th. The Burgman only turns @4000rpm at105kph & does not vibrate at all.
