Finished the Stebel horn installation on my DL 650 today. The photo shows my choice of location. I used the Eastern Beaver harness which was not inexpensive but I saved myself about an hour of fabricating.
I ran one of the pairs of wires along the left side of the airbox to couple with the wires to the stock horn, which I left in place. On the right side of the airbox I ran the wires to the new horn. While I was screwing around in there I installed vacuum line extensions for the throttle body synch. There was a liberal use of zipties throughout. It was interesting to note that one of the caps on a vacuum fitting had a crack in it, which may explain my mysterious episodes of running roughly.
Rode the bike down 10 miles of rocky trail today and the horn did not budge and still works.
Hope this is helpful.

and another

That's a good one. I have a unique (I believe) street only location on my Pat Walsh bars. The wires run through the bars and exit under the tank, grommets at both ends.

I've had mine in that same location for 18 months. It works fine there.
