First time I had dead battery, I thought it was a glitch. Second time I was like it ain't right...I always keep battery on tender when not riding.
Bike is 12 DL1000 Adventure.
And then third time, bike died on freeway. Luckily, I first noticed gauges going blank. I pulled over, the engine dies shortly. No start.
I've called local bike shop, they were able to help me in form of a service call to the breakdown location.
Cool guys indeed.
After new battery was installed, I Was able to limp it home.
Come to find out the stator had burnt itself despite passing continuity test. However it failed AC test, one phase shawed 4-12 AC output.
Opened it up and viola!


Ordering parts...

Is ProCom ESG562 High Output Stator good replacement for DL1000?

I'd like to hear options before I order one.

Make sure the rotor magnets haven't shifted, and I would stay away from non OEM stators.

And........install an on board voltmeter on the bike.

Is Electrosport an OK stator?
I am not looking for "increased performance" parts, rather honest replacement parts.

I wouldn't use an aftermarket stator. It may work fine but, on the average, their quality and life is sub par. Electrosport has a poor track record. How's that for mixing sports metaphors?

My Dl1K has 26K. I have LED running lights and aux LED stop lights.
I think I have contributed to stator demise by allowing battery connectors succumb to build up (resistance).
I'll be adding V meter and maybe an extra accessory to load up magneto a bit.
Checked rotor, it seems magnets are still good.

Wera688 had an Electrosport stator outlast the OEM too. There are definitely exceptions to the norm.

After all was put together, V reading is back to normal.
