I've been lurking in these forums for a few weeks now but finally pulled the trigger and purchased a 2012 DL 650 ADV. This is my 3rd street bike. Started with a 04 R6 and it was a blast to ride for about 15 minutes after that my neck, back, wrist, and ass started to ache. Not so good for a 45 minute commute mostly freeway. Sold it and purchased a big boy 1800cc metric cruiser (Roadliner S). Very comfortable but gets about 20MPG and shakes my skull blurry at 75mph. On a trip to Death Valley a crappy road on a right turn scraping my floor boards broke my frame. So now I'm the proud new owner of a V Strom.

I just put 150 miles on it today and while I'm still in the break in period I'm stoked with the performance. Nimble as hell. Dropped into every corner with ease. The upright position feels great. I was surprised how little buffeting in the chest and head area there is considering many post on the subject. I'm 5'6" so taller riders could have it worse. Could be better for sure but I was worried I wouldn't see straight at highway speeds. Yeah I feel the engine buzz at 65mph. Since may of you have mentioned it I'll consider it a normal characteristic of the bike.

At half the price of my last bike I'm pleased with what I'm riding and can't wait to open her up!

Center stand, hand guards, and top box are the top of my must haves. I'll post some pics once it's no longer stock looking.
