I thought I'd do a heads up for those of you coming up here this summer. I just read here that there are going to be several sections of road construction this summer along the George Parks Hwy. That is the road connecting Anchorage and Fairbanks and give access to Denali Nat'l Park. Fortunately, there is a relatively new regulation limiting traffic delays to no more than 20 minutes max, so if you do get held up by road construction, at least it won't be for too long. But you might want to adjust your ride routes accordingly. The Alaska DOT website offers good info to keep you up to date.

strompilot, thanks for the road updates. I'll continue to watch as time draws near to our departure. I'll also be in touch so we can hopefully meet up to say Hi.

Now if I could just get google maps to work for me again I'd be in business!! Apparently you can't drive from Dawson to Tok on the top of the world highway anymore according to google...

Yeah, I noticed that too. There was a Google Maps update and that was one of the results. Very frustrating. However there is a way. Check out "The Milepost." It's the "bible" of the Alaska Hwy and also the connecting roads and has all the up to date info each year. You can also find excerpts from it on Google.

Just received my copy of the 2014 version last week

Now I just need to start going through it and marking the pages!

Hey that is a cool link. Thanks for posting it. I'll look closer at it in 5-6 weeks or so. I like the Yukon version of that too. I found some roads I will probably put in the route this year...if not in a couple years.

Canol rd in the Yukon being one. It is closed now (why it caught my attention) Looks like my kind of road.
