Spent some time on the gravel in Wheeler Wildlife Refuge this weekend, and took HWY 33 through Bankhead Nat'l Forest. It's not the "Tail of the Dragon", but there are ~10 miles of curves. It was a hot, but nice ride.
There is a Mennonite restaurant (think home cooking) in Danville that is only open Thursday through Saturday, so it would be a nice place to eat after a Saturday ride. [oldcookstove.com] I'll be heading back down this Saturday, so if you're in Alabama and want to ride fire roads in Bankhead, respond to this thread.
Wound up behind a white newer model Strom in little old Erwin, NC this afternoon on the way home from work. Gotta love 70+ degree weather in December and it's good to see like-minded Strommers out there taking advantage of it.
