One of the helmets I'm looking at is the Shoei Neo 2 - for me, the modular style is worth the weight due to the ease of putting it on. But choosing a size is tricky as I'm a first time rider. I was measured at 59.5 and 60.0 by two different stores and according to the Shoei chart that is the top of the "L" size.
"L" size (59-60cm)
"XL" 61-62cm)
One store said the different density foam will compress a bit over time to conform and so I should get the "L" which felt snug but didnt hurt anywhere. Another store said I should definitely get the "XL" based on a fit test they did and my 60.0 being close to the XL and had not heard of the foam compressing over time.
If I wear the "L" in the store for 30 minutes and don't feel any specific discomfort and only a snug fit all around should I go that way rather than the larger shell size and extra padding in the "XL"? Once I choose the shell size I know I can later change the check padding by one size if I want so I would worry about that later.
Thanks for any feedback!
