Thought I'd take an hour and install the Stebel. Wrong.

On my DLK4 the horn is on the right side, behind and almost touching the back of the radiator. I pulled the right cowl, but access is blocked by a plastic heat shield that wraps around the top of the radiator.

The space is way too tight to get my hand to the horn wires (I plan to disable it anyway.) Any tips or tricks to gain access to this mother?

I don't want to have to pull the radiator, but that's the way it's looking right now.

OK, I got it. Found Stromtrooper246's post from three years ago. The secret is to take the sensor plug off the radiator and force the shroud back. I'm gonna use the hot wire to fire the relay.

So, is there a trick to removing the plug on the temperature sensor? I've pulled and pulled. I am trying to find a locking tab or something.

seems to me there was a tab on the port side, but i don't remember for sure. i do remember wiggling it a lot before it let go.

Don't bother with the old horn itself. Unplug the harness that leads to the horn. On the rear of all that shielding, the side you can actually get at, is the connector for the short horn lead. Disconnect it there and use that output for your trigger. See item #7 in the diagram. It connects to the horn at one end and the other end is about the center of the back of that rad shroud. Disconnect it there.

I got to mine by taking all the lower plastic off, gas tank, and air box, then loosen radiator bolts and tilt it foward. I wanted to install the stebel, Suzuki heated grips, and synk my fuel injection. I had the bike apart for a week also installed gold valves and sonic springs so forks were off, made it very easy. Also hooked up my Sarget heated seat and line for my heated vest, why I did all this in the summer is beyond me.
