I would like to know - What happens to braking performance if the ABS
Sensor ring gets clogged with dirt or mud ?

Does this make stopping difficult or dangerous?
These do not clean themselves as say disk rotors do ?

From what I see on my bike the sensor ring is really not very well protected.
I can just imagine what an off road muddy rutted road might bring to the picture of what
happens.... to Either the DL or XT .

Anybody had issues with this ?

ABS would be a liability in those conditions anyway right?

Better to pull the fuse before hand.

worse case scenario when sensors are clogged you will have to rely on your own braking modulation,
braking performance is not affected but braking effectiveness depends on your skills.
When off-road ABS is not only useless but dangerous to have on.

Does the XT model have a switch to deactivate the ABS ? I am pretty sure my DL does not have any such thing .

Seems that the Selection of having the abs system on or off should have been included in those handlebar switches
for the traction controls.

Having to pull a fuse to render it off makes for a cheezy switch. :frown2:

This seems to be an area where the ball got dropped. I know "entry level " I keep hearing that.
But if they truely are hell bent on safety then some provision to turn ABS on or off during some riding
conditions should have been considered.

It's not an off-road bike, doesn't need to have switchable ABS.

Or off-road traction control either :grin2:

Some on here would call a foul on that comment. Just that the XT is designed for some off road
enjoyment. Not full on motocross. Sure I get that.

But even the DL can go off highway with confidence, albeit some reservations are required. :smile2:
