I have a 14 DL 1000. I'm about to instal an abs override switch using a relay and an inline fuse. I have no question regarding this mod, since everyone on this site has covered this topic well and, you are actually that awesome - thank you.
The question I have before I begin is, can this be done without the relay and, more importantly, without having to cycle the key to reengage? I foubd this link; Proper ABS on/off switch

some time ago but seem unable to locate the wire in question. I suspect my '14 model has different colour coded wires than the bike in this thread.

The Vee2 uses a white body wire for various power feeds instead of orange. Find the white/yellow wire to the ABS module.

I have fitted a switch to my V2, if you bypass the 25a ABS motor fuse there is no need to cycle the ignition switch.

I did not fit a relay just a 15a switch, my testing has told me the system on my bike is carrying less than 15a.

I can't see the switch failing with the little use it gets and if it does fail I can put the fuse back in place to reinstate the system.

This is a very simple install with a 5A handlebar switch. With the Vee 2 there's no need to remove the battery tray. Just unplug the abs control module immediately behind the tank and splice a switch into the white with yellow wire.
It's so easy and so nice to have control 9ver this function

So I have a question: If you turn off the ABS, since the wheel speed information passes through the ABS unit before it goes to the ECU, does that mean that your speedometer stops functioning? Or will it still work?

By shutting down the system through the 25a fuse everything else on the bike will work as normal except the ABS.

Thanks! I was thinking of fitting a normally closed relayed using the same power line to power the relay. That way I could use a normally open switch on the handle bar so that "OFF" would mean that the ABS was normal and "ON" would mean that the ABS was disabled.

You can really simplify things and forget about the relay, it is not required.

1; There is no power running through the system unless the brakes are applied hard and the ABS pump kicks in so there is no hot switching.

2; Even with the pump running there is less than 15amps being carried through the system.

Just stick in a 15a switch and keep things clean and simple.
