It's been a while since I posted here and I'm no closer to getting a garage but I am closer to finally getting the bike as I'm bored of waiting to get the garage sorted

I'm still of the opinion that the v-strom is the bike for me, but it would seem that the vee is now no longer available in europe, so it's wee or nothing, not that I consider that to be a bad thing as such :)

I'm considering getting the GT purely because i want a centre stand, luggage and heated grips; it will be my only form of transport besides sharing the wife's car (I've commuted on the train for 8 1/2 years) so the luggage and heated grips are important and I'd like the centre stand for its practicality.

I can't help but think that the extra bits on the GT would cost me far less in the guise of a GT than it would be to buy the A and then buy better luggage plus the centre stand, heated grips and handlebar covers which also strike me as a good idea, but I've read in here that the oem luggage is a bit hit and miss (although on a day-to-day basis i might only have the top box on)

I've already emailed my local suzuki dealer (staiano's of harrogate) who was extremely helpful when my gixxer had a difference of opinion with a peugeot 305 in 2000 even though they got nothing for it, and I'm also wanting to try and take advantage of the current interest free credit offer that is supposedly expiring at the end of this month.

I'd very much appreciate any pearls of wisdom you'd care to impart about what I've said; it will be my first bike since killing the gixxer in november 2000, which was in turn my first ever bike which I'd had for 11 months. I'm 5'11 and am a reasonably keen mountainbiker (but enjoy my food and drink too much to be a whippet) so my legs are in reasonable nick. It will be stored off road, but outside, I guess a ground anchor is a good idea, as will be a heavy duty cover. Anything else you think is considered mandatory?

TIA jon

Get all the extras you can!

The Suzuki is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden.
Get all the extas with the bike, You'll have them right away. I spent over $1000 (not including top box) and they all work well. Extas Bash bars, skid plate, centre stand, hand guards, radiator guard, light guard).

Thanks for the reply Auzytigger :) I'm picking up a DL650GT on Friday the 12th, which is the model with the luggage/c-stand/heated grips/hand guards here in the UK.

I'm getting the shop to fit me crash bars before it leaves the shop and will be getting a fenda extenda and also oil/rad covers reasonably quickly too!

Cant wait :thumbup1:
