First off as this is my first post maybe I should hi first. My name is Dom and I live in Charleston, South Carolina.

My wife has finally had enough of riding on my various 650 singles. SO we went to look at vstroms today. My local shop had a 20011 650 abs for $7499 plus tax and title out the door. This seems like an ok price. I thought I'd check in here and see what some other 650 owners paid for 2011 with abs.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I paid out the door about 7K or a few $ more in 2008. The dealer adds about $1k to the shown price..........
There is a dealer on eBay selling a brand new black 2011 650A for $6999 + $85 in fees. Seems like a nice deal for a new bike in the middle of the riding season.

I think that is a fair deal. I would try to get them to throw in a center stand and/or a set of hand guards (both Suzuki Accesories) If they say yes your ahead, cause your gonna want, at least the center stand anyway. If they say no, it's a fair deal, maybe try for 20% off on Accesories for 30 days. I have seen them for $6999, but for that price you are gonna have to travel and then there is service. Buying where you are going to get it serviced just makes sense.

That is a good price. Negotiate for a discount for accessories for a limited period of time. Center stand, maybe hand guards, whatever else in the accessory catalog that interests you. Try for 30% off and settle for 20%. As always, look at aftermarket versions of the accessories...some are better and some are similar but cheaper.

I don't know how the vehicle dealerships are there, but many here are just slightly concealed thieves. Check every charge they add on the contract, and except for the ones you know are good...license, tax...challenge every one. Check their addition. Some have been known to cheat on the arithmetic. Be sure the bike's price on the contract is the same as the price you agree to with the sales manager. If you're offered a so-called extended warranty, pass on it, unless you know that you won't be able to sleep at night without this peace of mind insurance. These are very reliable bikes. Check the financing they offer to be sure that it is the lowest rate; check your local banks, credit unions, and savings & loans. The stealership gets a kickback if they sign someone up for higher rate financing.

Seems about right. I paid just under $8k with all the additional NJ taxes and tile fees. (7% tax plus around $125 for registration and title). The price prior to a couple of rounds of bargaining was about $8600 out the door

Came with a full tank of gas too!

It might have been possible to beat them down by another $100 or so but they were pretty accomodating and I wasn't getting any lower quotes from anyone else I tried, so I decided the price was fair.

I'd be hesitant to buy from ebay unless it was a local dealer I know any Suzuki dealer should honor the warranty, but I suspect you might get better service if you buy the bike from the dealer who does the work. Plus with a local dealer you don't have to get the bike shipped or fly or drive out there and ride the bike home (at 5000rpm max!).

With the new design right around the corner as a 2012, I don't think that this is a good deal. My local dealer wanted $200 less +tax and title at the beginning of the season in April...

Push for a lower price or ask to have a few hundred $ (list price) off of accessories.
