I owned a 2005 DL1000 in 2005 for less than 1 yr. i think i had it for 6 months or less put 9k miles and sold it.
It was too top heavy if i remember and the stumble bugged me. I even got a tool share program and did some changes to the Mapping if i remember.

anyway , i then owned a fz1 -48k miles , VStar 1300 touring - 20k miles , FJR 1300-27k miles. Now i am bikeless for 3 weeks . I did have my 2001 sv650 track bike for 2 yrs that i also sold and picking up a 2005 Fuel Injected ex race bike for track.

so this will be my street ride.

i did take that strom from new england to smokies, brp and skyline drive.

Fast forward
i like the 650 XT 17 with gold wheels purely for the look
the 1000 is ofcourse there

I am 6 3 / 230 lbs for suspension input

I had an 07 DL1000 bought new, 50,000 miles. loved the motor, but also had the stumble, and other character I didn't appreciate.
It was totalled in 2012, bought a '12 DL650, new body style, motor improvements, new dash ABS, etc, and loved it, 48,000 miles.
I also had a XVS1300 touring, that didn't get ridden, so decided to sell the DL650 and 1300 Yamaha, and shop for a 14 or newer 1000.
I found a 2014 1000 in Reno, great price, low miles, road it home, took it on a 10 day trip in July, and couldn't be happier. The motor is more refined, runs better, and it doesn't feel as top heavy to me. I had forgotten how terrific that motor is, and now, with traction control, ABS, better behaved and running, I absolutely love it. Brakes, suspension, power, comfort on the freeway at speed, hands down, just more bike than my '12 650, or the 07 DL1000.

Thanks exact input i was looking for . i cannot see to find any exact info on can i get a used 2014- few around me or get the 2018 due to some updates . what i am having a tough time finding

Another Note. found a Left Over 2014 1000 with bags with zero miles for 9k at dealer. I think its a great deal. i think,
