Well, tomorrow I'm picking up a 2009, a leftover from the dealer, no miles as of yet, however, by tomorrow night, that might be a bit different, and was wondering if there's anything I should be immediately concerned about. Any input is welcome, thanks.

Concerns - having too much fun?!?!

Break in says to keep it under 5k rpm for the first 500 miles or so and vary the speed. Not a problem with the 6 speed as long as it is not superslab.

That is from a fellow newbie though....... :yesnod:

Only concern is it will almost be strong enough to pull you away from Lambeau on Packer Sundays - but not quite. 2009 was a good year - did you get the highly desireable orange metallic model? Have fun & ride safe - Buckee

Yes, I got the orange. I could've gone to Team Motorsports up in Green Bay, they've got a black one, but I didn't feel like taking the little DR200SE that far. So I chose to go to Badger here in Manitowoc instead.

How did you do on price of a left over compared to the 2011?

Well, I didn't end up getting it. He decided to cut what I was told I would get on trade almost in half. He also only dropped about $1000 off the price of the '11, before hiking it up by almost $600 when I asked about trading. So I've chosen to go to Green Bay to Team Motorsports, where I know I can get a better deal on the same bike

"immediately concerned" Lets see. How cold it will get the first night because you won't want to get off it and probably ride till sun up. Take pictures at the dealer and post them. They are always fun to see. Have someone take a pic of you with the new ride. The grins are priceless.

Take a pic of the new orange wee with your old bike sitting side by side at the dealer.

BTW are you now getting a better deal a week later?

Now you can switch over to regular. I wonder if dealers get kickbacks from oil companies for recommending premium when it isn't needed?

Pictures will be coming before too long, I managed to trade two bikes that I never really rode and pay only $700. After finding a grey model (used) that I could trade even up for, and telling them about it, they knocked the price down a full $1100. And as for running premium, I do that in all my vehicles anyway.

I don't want to start another gas war, but you're at best wasting money and at worst hurting your engine by running higher octane than necessary.
