The 800 fits a niche market for more off road ability than it's predecessors. It all depends on what your looking for in a bike. I like the first gen VStroms for the bigger cowls and the ability to install large windshields since most of my riding is highway. If I lived in the northern 1/3 of the state, this 800 would be the way to go.

Haters be hatin' bang for the buck, I don't see any competition for the Zook.
Yea, it's been obvious for a while that some people don't want this bike to be as good as it is. I find it more than just annoying, but the mods say "it's a forum, haters going to hate. Get over it." Or something close to that.

I ordered soft bags today. The saddlebag guards we already available for the 1000/1050 and 2017 DL650 fit this bike as well.
Rick, do you think that means the Givi pannier racks and top case adapter plate from a 2018 650 XT will bolt onto the new 800 DE?

I think there is a good chance that they will. Since 2014 Suzuki has offered a luggage option for the DL1000. It appears, but I have not checked that that the same option was made available for the 2017 DL650 and DL1050. My 800 has the same upper mounting points. It's logical that Suzuki simply made all these models compatible with the same luggage option. The only thing I'm not 100% sure of is the lower mounting point at the passenger peg mount. The mount is certainly there and it looks to be the same.

The easiest test would normally be to check the model number of the optional Suzuki luggage mount to see if it the same. However, since Suzuki is offering the big aluminum style boxes on the 800 and smaller plastic cases on the other models the model number might be different and they may still be compatible.

I emailed Givi to see if my 2018 650XT side case racks will fit onto the new 2023 800 DE and technical support said, "No they will not. There are new parts in development".

On the Suzuki website, side case hardware part number listed on their website for the 800 DE is 93700-25820.
The part number for the 2018 650 side case hardware is 93700-31820.

Unfortunately, they don't appear to be compatible.

I put the Tusk Highlander X2 rackless soft panniers on mine.

I ended up removing the luggage rack/ passenger handles To get a good fit, but I'm pretty happy with them so far.

I've been checking aboput every other day and Givi finally has the 800 DE on it's Italian pages. The listing seems mainly to be a place holder for future products.

One useful piece of information is that the tank ring is a BF50 (same as DL1050).

Do they touch the exhaust pipe at all?

How will this bike compare to the Tenere 700? Are they in the same niche?
I recently sold my Tenere 700 and CRF1100 Africa Twin and bought a 23 650 XT Adventure with 980 miles on it and another bike y’all probably would not be interested in. I did not have interest in the DL 800 mostly because it is tall similar to the over rated IMO Tenere 700 and Africa Twin was too fat between my legs and Tall. I am done with tall bikes unless they small like my DR650 and CRF 300L. Hey I am 73 yo. And have owned 75 motorcycles I am now harder to please. All that said I hope all you new 800 owners enjoy your bike.
I also have a two other bikes one has the Tenere motor though a much more exciting tune in my MT 07 and my Rebel 1100 has the Africa Twin motor with a larger flywheel.

Jam,

From your description of not liking tall-ish, heavier bikes, I'd assume you wouldn't care for the 800 then either.
Yes you are correct. This hating tall bikes has only bothered me as recently. I guess now I know I am feeling my age. I have slowed down on the highway as well. Taking curves at twice the posted curve speed is not as much fun as it used to be. I do enjoy taking them slower.
I still ride gravel and fire roads just do them slower. My log cabin though right off AR. Hwy7 is surrounded by National forest and AR. 7 has plenty of twisties so I am blessed in where I live
