I'm im lust with the V-Strom 650 right now, but I can't find one at a single dealer in New England for tire-kicking.

(I called about 30 and found one dealer that did a region-wide search for me - found 3 total in New England - one in Vermont and two in Maine - but as I am still in the tire-kicking phase, I didn't want to have him transfer one in and he declined to tell me where they were located. Kept calling around but wasn't able to locate them and finally gave up.)

So I'm curious - are there any V-Strom 650 riders in the New England area who would be willing to let me peep your bike/sit on it to see how it feels? I'm a woman and I'm vaguely concerned about the height/weight. I can deal with a BMW F650GS just fine - the seat height is theoretically the same but I hear the Stroms are a bit more top-heavy so I want to make sure I can handle. I'm 99% sold on the Strom - totally want one - but I can't really be serious about buying one until I've sat on it.

Any New Englanders wanna help me out?

(I'm in Boston, but willing to ride to you A) because it's an excuse to get out on the bike and go someplace and B) you'd be doing me a huge favor.)

Dachary, I'm in South Ryegate, VT and have a 650 with the stock seat, suspension, handlebars, grips, and windscreen that you can check out and take for a ride anytime. I'll PM you with my #. EDIT: I would buy a used one in a heartbeat. There was a red 2006 in southern NH with 10,000 mi. on it for $4800.00 and it looked sweet. It was on craigslist.

Saw your blog over on ADVrider. I guess you decided on the F650GS? You will love it. Saw a couple of low mileage examples in the northeast recently for around $5000.00 Good luck and good riding!

Yes.

I live in South Boston. PM me and we can arrange to meet somewhere convenient or you can come by our house.

Only caveat is that I have the Tall Touring saddle.

FWIW a 5'8 woman bought my 05 and loves it. She can flat foot it with the stock saddle. My daughters like it as well, as you can see.

They can be lowered, and there are some 8mm (roughly 0.3") spacers that can be removed to lower the stock seat further.

Nault's Suzuki in Manchester NH seems to be "V-Strom Central."
