The 1000 obviously will wear out chains, sprockets and tyres quicker than the 650 so if you include those items then it is less reliable. The 1000's have had issues where the throttle bodies need to be balanced properly for correct performance and also some clutch chudder issues but neither of these things causes breakdowns.
