I read some whare there is a mod to derestrict 4th and 5th gear on the 1000to have more power. There is an electrical mod done somewhere under the gas tank that trickes the timing into giving full power in 4th and 5th gear. I cant find it in the search, any one know?

You've got it backwards. An ATRE is used to fool the Vee into "thinking" it is always in 4th gear. It is the only unrestricted gear. Commercial ATREs are often switchable to 4th or 5th as some bikes have unrestricted 5th gears. The ECM "knows" what gear it is in from reading the resistor pack attached to the gearbox. Each gear has a specific resistance associated with it. You can get a gear indicator with ATRE as a GIPro and somebody else makes at stand alone ATRE but both are expensive. How can I make a de-restricter for my DL1000? shows how to make one.

Be careful with the top speed. The stock system pushes the limits of the stock chassis. An ATRE will put the bike's top end way beyond its ability to handle that speed.
