When I first saw the orange-red/white color scheme of the 2020 V-Strom 1050 I knew that I wanted one but could not justify a 2nd ADV bike in the garage that was so similar to my 2018 R1200GS. Well one year ago my GS was getting new camshafts replaced after a fairly common premature failure. After it was repaired I managed to get two rides in before the season ended. In the Spring of 2021 I rode the bike once but just didn't trust the bike long term. So I sold the bike for really good money and was able to move into this new bike for even money including the luggage cases.
The only bike I could find within 300 miles of Spokane was in Montana, 400 miles away. But the place gave me a great price and that made the drive over worth it.

Given the hot smoky weather the bike sat in the garage for almost four weeks awaiting new tires and the luggage cases that had to be ordered direct out of Italy. And I don't ride in 100+ degree weather anyway, especially through thick wildfire smoke.
First ride was a loop through Metalline Falls to Colville and back to Spokane, Washington. The weather was clear enough and not-too-hot enough to get me on the bike and it's first ride.
