The Eastern V-Strom Rally has already been "reserved" at The Iron Horse Lodge/Campground for Thursday May 16 - Sunday May 19th for 2019......the weekend between Mother's Day and Memorial Day weekend. The IH is holding the entire campground for us "V-Strommers" until January 15th to make our room/cabin/bunkhouse reservations, and then they will open it up to the General Public after that date. Don't procrastinate!!! REMEMBER: call the Iron Horse prior to January 15th if you want your same room, or different "digs" from last year. Tent Campers require no reservations at this time.
Repeat Offenders who returned last year noticed a few changes in the Rally formats......less "swag", more Group Ride talk, more conversations on how to "grow" (or, at least, make better) the whole Eastern Rally experience, and how better to get the word out to the Vstrom Masses out there. Many of those ideas/suggestions have been (or will be) implemented for 2019. Keep the cards and letters coming........"input" is good!!! :fineprint:

New faces / names have volunteered to help out........Stalky Tracker has been working hard on the Rally Website (see below) since last May.........and you may see some new "schtuff" (ideas) tried out come May. We aren't trying to fix anything that ain't broken, merely trying to keep the Rally "refreshing" by adding new activities. OK, enough propaganda.......check out the website below.........call (or email) the Iron Horse for your Reservations (you can cancel up to a certain date without loosing any $$$)......buy some more farkles during Christmas to show them off in May........and have a Wonderful Christmas/New Year's Holiday!!!

Thanks Mark,

Glad to see this thread up!

Made my reservation after the rally and took the wife up to Ironhorse a couple weeks after last years Rally.
She enjoyed rafting the Nantahalla, Riding the twisties in a rented Slingshot, going to the nearby ruby mines (and associated jewelry stores.)
She even liked the cabin room and says next trip (mid summer) she'll try a zipline tour. For anybody thinking about bringing the spouse I encourage taking a couple extra days to enjoy all that can be done.

As always, I'm looking forward to the rally, maybe a little more this coming year.
About 5 days after I saw Mark444 at Barber Vintage Fest there was a storm called Hurricane Micheal that went through.
Got to experience life on generators and a lot of other things I hope never to experience again.
Currently waiting for my roof to get re-shingled but other repairs have already been made. We were much luckier than many.

Other than starting bikes up for a ride around the block and switching the battery maintainers, other things took precedence.

Now I have to get back to see what I've missed on the forums.

Hope to see many of you at the rally!!!! If you haven't been there before, treat yourself to a good time!!!

I've never been to a rally of any kind but I'm interested in possibly attending this one. This is one of my favorite areas to ride, and I've heard good things about Iron Horse.

I'm still tentative at this point, but I'll get off the fence very soon.

If you even think you want to come....do it. This Rally is about as laid back as they come. Some will ride alone, some in small groups, some in larger ones. It is loosely organized and low key.

I stumbled across this Rally by accident years ago, when I was at Deals Gap riding by myself. I found a group of Vstroms when I stopped at a pull off. I have made every one since. It is typically on the small side, numbers wise.

Iron Horse is fantastic, I stay there several times a year. Even doing the tent thing is nice.

I am not a promoter nor an organizer, I just enjoy the IH, the Troopers and the area. My Strom is long gone but I still make the date.

Yes, everything is clean. Even the Bunkhouses are nice, which is where I stay. As we get closer people will be looking to split cabins and such. The tent space has nice soft grass and is very close to the lodge and always available even at the last moment.

Very professionally run establishment. They know how to feed and host groups. Nights spent bullshitting and consuming your favorite beverage by the fire pit are awesome. That's where you will find me.

Just a reminder, Iron Horse MC Lodge is holding the place for us until January 15, 2019. So be sure and get your reservations in.

Also, the Office will be closed for Christmas & New Years Holidays from Dec. 22 thru Jan. 1. So plan accordingly.

Hope to see ya there.

I know the Ironhorse is busy. But the Eastern V STrom rally has been a regular on these dates for many years. Shutting down registration with them, as far as holding rooms go, on January 15 is simply too soon. Maybe that could be looked into?

Most people are still in a fog from the Holidays and still afraid to look at the bank account! Hard to plan a trip that far ahead for some and it seems many don't get into the "mood" until March comes around.

Finding a spot for a tent has never been a problem. There are some "fancy" tent spaces across the creek with 110v power and gravel bases. I prefer being next to the Lodge ( bathroom ) and that area over there always has plenty of room too.

Got my bunk house spot again 2 weeks ago. Same cabin, should be fun. I'm trying to convince a coworker to come with his wife. They're great people and fun to ride with. I think they would enjoy the atmosphere.

Personally, I would like to do the slow speed race again. I thought it was fun even though my balance game is weak. I'd sign up for sure.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing you goobers again. I'm riding down from east TN on Thursday afternoon, I think, should anyone wanna ride down together.

Reservations made! Just not at the lodge.....I have some other obligations I have to tend to and having access to internet full time is a must have. So I am staying at the Microtel Inn in Bryson City again!

I will plan to put on a clutch seminar again, maybe a bit more involved if I can talk my Son into carrying part of the stuff to do it!

I'm going to make every attempt to be there for the entire rally this time. :smile2:
Brian, keep me posted, if you go I will meet you there, without a Strom of course, but I'm sure the beast would fit right in.

Dave, no worries. Probably a quarter of the bikes there won't be V Stroms. I'll probably be on the RT, my Son on the S10.

That tells me it is what a meet up is all about. Getting together with friends!

That's why I'm still on the forum after two years with no Strom, there are a great bunch of folks here that make it well worth staying. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meetup.

I'd like to ride down this year but, kinda early now. As I get older the trailer seems more sensible. WTH?

Going to try and make it.

Want to make two wheels of suches and stay there a night too. Ride around the area. Get back to Barber for some sort of event would be fun.

Looks like around 100 miles away, if some people want to make a day ride out of it. :smile2:
