I'm looking at two prior-year models at my local dealers for my first bike purchase. Out the door these two models are only about $600 difference ($7,737 for the 2017 and $8,350 for the 2019 XT).
Can you guys help a noob a bit here....
Concerns about new on 2017 vs 2019 (assume no real issue, just sitting at a dealer)
Model differences in the 2017 vs 2019 - what changed specifically?
Do those seem like good prices out the door paying cash?
Ready to join that wee life. Thanks all.

For me I'd spend add 'l $600 unless you're strapped for $. Color is nicer (imo) and I thought i read somewhere they 'smoothed out' throttle sensitivity but i've read from non-2019 owners that there's no issues. You have to be judge on price but dealer has to make a living as well. good luck!

i'd say they're not knocking anything off for the 17 being a three year old leftover, you may be able to find a little better deal on a three year old leftover. do they not have a 19 ABS? i bet its the same price as the 17. basically that $600 is the difference between an ABS and an XT of the same year.

which model do you prefer?

like spokes or not?

gonna do some offroading?

if it were me i'd take the newer for $600

I have the leftover 2017 model, paid $8000 out the door 2 years ago including OEM side cases. The 2019 XT is a better deal in my opinion. The added accessories are worth it. See if he'll sell you a centerstand at cost, you'll be wanting one. There is no difference I'm aware of between the models 2017 vs 2019. I love my 2017, and would buy again. Best, DD

SMK - I found them on Amazon. OVOTOR motorcycled LED Auxiliary lights. I like the lights but the mounts are a plastic material so if you plan on doing hard offroad they may not be good. I liked them as they also have blinkers integrated into them.

Thanks Main - they look great. They would be fine as my off roading would mostly dirt/logging type roads. Were they hard to wire up? I'm no electrician but would like to give it a shot. Will be ordering the T-Rex crash bars soon, they look great too. What are those tank protectors? They are a nice subtle touch.

Wiring was pretty straight forward and easy. I have them wired directly to the battery but would recommend an eastern beaver to make them switchable with the ignition. I put them through a switch with a green light. ABS switch is a red light. You'll probably need a relay switch if you wire up the signals. I had already put one on because of the LED signals I put on.
The center pad is a Suzuki Vstrom pad and the side pads are TechSpec. 20200526_060733.jpg 20200526_060717.jpg 20200526_060903.jpg 20200526_060751.jpg 20200526_060854.jpg
