I've decided to get a 650 v-strom I found a 2015 adventure with 4500 mi. for $7500.00 and a 2013 adventure with 1600 mi. for $6500.00. Are there improvements on the 2015 to make it the better buy or are they the same?

It may be worth noting that the 2013 is subject to both the stator and tappet recall. I think the 2015 is only subject to the stator recall. In either case, you should verify whether recalls have been done.

Hard to say for sure not knowing where you are, but you should be able to get that '13 for less. This past summer I sold my like-new 2013 650 Adventure with lots of nice add-ons (minus side cases) for $5K.

Not sure how well this works but this URL will let you check open recalls based on a VIN. I called Suzuki to get the bike "registered" to me as owner and they were able to confirm both recalls were performed on my VIN. Or at least confirmed a dealer had been paid to perform the recalls and I have no reason to doubt they were performed.

I would think the 15 would hold resale a bit better than the 13 so you would want to buy right on the 13. Has it had it's 600 mile service performed?

If this is a private seller I would agree. I purchased my 2013 at the end of the summer with 1,900 miles including crash bars/sliders, center stand, fork brace and Givi racks for $5,000. I would look for comps to point to when you negotiate. Depending on what maintenance has been done to date, you might want to consider that also. Much of the fluids need replacing on a time schedule even if the miles are low and tires are good for 4-6 years from birth date depending on who you speak to.

Another consideration would be the 5 year old rubber on the 2013. May be losing some grip due to the age of those tires. I would go for the 2015 unless the 2013 was loaded with upgrades. The thought that the 2013 likely had minimal maintenance and fluid changes on account of that low mileage on a 5 year old bike would bother me. Damn, amazing how little those bikes were ridden.

I replaced my 2005 Wee this past summer. I got a 2017 Wee for not much more than what they are looking to get for those bikes. There is a BIG difference with the 2017 and I don't think I would even look at the previous models at those prices.

But that is just me....and I LOVE my 2017....just a much better bike.

I bought a brand new 2016 V-Srom 650 with factory side boxes and engine guard for $7,500 with tax/title/registration with full factory warranty. I'm located in Madison, WI.

Prices vary based on location and supply/demand, however, still not sure if the 2015 adventure with 4,500 miles is a steal.

Thanks for all the comments. I bought the 2013, it has all bags including a really nice givi tail trunk I don't really want but somebody will, and a heavy duty bash plate. It looks like new and I like the dealership. I'm riding a 2014 fjr and a 1992 bmw k75 really looking forward to having the v-strom in the stable.

Congrats....so we have to assume the recalls have been done?
