First congrats to you new DL1000 owners. I'm looking forward to joining you as a Vee2 owner soon.

I have question for you about the warranty and first service.

When Honda released the CB500F/R/X in 2013, it required a first service at 600 miles in order to maintain the warranty. Many people were shocked to find that this first service included a valve check and bill of about $500 to $600.

I "heard" there was a required service on the DL1000 at about 600 miles. Can you tell us what it entails? When is the first valve check required?

By the way, after verifying the valves held up with the data obtained from the 2013 bikes, Honda changed the valve check to a normal interval in 2014.

First valve check is at 24000 km. You can do the first service yourself, no warranty issues. At least what my dealer had said.

MANDATORY first service for $500? Never heard of that!

A guy I know just bought an X, I will ask him about it.
