Anyone have an idea what this might be in this picture of a '12 V-Strom? Yellow arrow pointing to it. That looks like a loose wire hanging there. I wonder what it is. That's not a seam between parts, is it? Maybe I'm spending too much time staring at the pics of the bike. I wish it would start showing up at dealers. :headbang:

It looks like an oops wire. It's in the wrong place for anything else.

I don't understand that design.
Why make the case cover 3 parts when it could just be one?
Maybe they expect to be able to change the clutch without taking the case cover out, but then the oil-filler is still in the way, and how is the clutch-cover held in place?

I'm gonna have to go look at a gladius again; I'd not previously noticed that on the bike.

Same as Gladius, better angle here, might be easier to see:

Looks like that would be an expensive gasket to replace.
But... maybe it's not a sealed fit? I mean maybe that cover isn't holding fluid inside so there's no gasket there? Without seeing what's behind the cover it's hard for me to tell. Sure looks like there'd be fluid in there, though... I mean the oil fill hole is just above it.
