2012 v-strom 1000 pull stator cover

There are great threads on when the Stator cover is off. However, I can't find a thread on pulling the 2012 v-strom 1000 stator cover. I've pulled many stator covers on other bikes and know, I'm fighting the magnets.

My question is > Any tricks/advice on pulling the 2012 v-strom 1000 Stator Cover?

Thanks for advice.

Welcome to the Forum. Reply #3 of Magneto / Flywheel removal may be of help.
THanks, Got the Stator cover off with no issues after a removed the clutch ram and Chain sprocket cover. Tip zip tie the clutch lever closed before removing the clutch ram.

What trick did you use to overcome the magnetic pull on the stator cover or did you make use of the bolt method?
I trust that you did remember to snap a few pix during the removal process? Pix could often be of help should you have a issue with the re-assembly.
Have a look at Stator cover will not go back on if you should encounter a problem in replacing the stator cover.

I highly recommend NOT tying the clutch lever to the grip with a zip tie or other method. That is in the manual and posted on the internet.....due to the fact that without doing it the slave piston could be pushed out of the bore if someone pumped the clutch lever...and over time the slave piston can creep out if not tied off too.
There are several reasons that make tying off the lever to grip not so much the perfect idea. The big reason is that you are removing the slave AND replacing it while it is in the extended zone. This means you are fighting the pressure from the clutch pressure plate springs. Removing it isn't as big a deal, but installing it under tension has on many occasions allowed the cylinder to become cocked and there have been cases of the ears being snapped off. Then there are NUMEROUS cases with pushing the clutch pressure plate out of position causing the clutch to malfunction. All you have to do is just remember to wrap some tape around the cylinder or zip tie it so the slave piston cannot come out.

thank you for the advice
@realshelby is absolutely correct. This should be a sticky. Just remove the slave, push the slave piston into its bore and secure it. I use a socket placed over the piston rubber diaphragm and a couple wraps of electric tape to keep slave from disassembling itself.
