I purchased this V Strom approx. 2 years ago and have ridden it 10,000 miles with no problems. Lots of miles left on the current tires.

BTW - These bikes can easily go well over 100,000 miles with regular maintenance. There's a documented case of a DL1000 going OVER 450,000 miles!!!!! 437,000 miles...it's still alive!

Reason for Selling - I've picked up a totally different type of bike. KTM Super Duke 990.

V Strom Extras Include:
  • Two Brothers Exhaust (Pic) (Stock Exhaust Not Included)
  • Upgraded 4 Pot Front Brake Calipers (OE's were 2 Pot)
  • Cortech Tail Bag
  • New Front Tire - not mounted
  • Crash Cage
  • Tinted Wind Screen
  • OE Wind Screen
  • Bark Busters
  • Frame Sliders
Location: Weddington, NC

Well crap! Police?
Yes, I reported as stolen immediately after he took off!!! I also posted it as stolen on the Facebook Stolen Vehicles section.
I'll also maintain my Craigslist ad featuring the theft. I'm working with the police trying to get Craigslist to ID the true email address of the thief since communications with him were through CL's encrypted email.

Wish Me Luck

@Big Boy , I just texted your Craigslist posting to a friend of mine in SC, asking him to keep an eye out for it in the event that it shows up down that way...

Yeah, since this is not The Trooper Arena I can't say what I really think of the guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure we are all thinking the same thing.
I'll be on the lookout, though it's not likely to turn up this far west.

Post your story on the Carolina Craigslist Crap thread at advrider.com. the more eyes looking the better.
Your troubles have made my decision to put gps trackers on my bikes final. I was shopping for them anyway to put on a semi truck we own as a hidden back up to the in cab system. Found some that look like relays. Pretty sure I'll get one of those for the DL1000. The DR might be a little harder since every gap on it is filled with something.

Man that sucks.. Last bike I sold I said to anyone who wanted a test ride it's money up front ( the whole sale price) or no ride. This filtered out the time wasters and creeps like your guy. Also if they paid the money up front and crashed the bike it was theirs.
We as bike owners have to get a bit more tougher to protect our bikes so do not be afraid to ask straight up for the cash.

Damn dude that's so messed up and very brazen of that prick, this is why I won't allow any test rides unless they both have their MC endorsement and they also leave their license with me......hope he get's nailed and your bike back.

This makes me a bit nervous to be out riding mine which is also a red 2012 DL1000. I live in the area and ride several times a week.
My bike has a Givi Airflow windscreen and stock exhaust however.
Maybe I'll stick to my KLR until the perp is caught!
Either way, sorry the scumbag ripped you off. Hope he gets caught very soon.

I'm digging into finding that P.O.S. as hard as I can. I've contracted a theft recovery specialist and the initial address of the suspect is 6108 Shakespeare Rd, Columbia, SC.

When I put this address into Google Maps, I found that a business named Dealer Auto Salvage LLC was located there. THAT scares me!!!!!

I also just received an email from a Union County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau detective. Craigslist will not decrypt the scumbag's email address for me, but they will for law enforcement!!!
