I actually gave this a lot of thought. Seriously. A LOT of thought.

Even with very large lights installed under the light bar as in the picture, the fender can not contact the lights without being near full compression and the forks turned more than 30 degrees. If this happens your fender contacting your lights is the least of your troubles. It probably means the bike and rider separated ways and one or both became airborne.

So, not a problem under normal and recoverable emergency conditions.

The light bar is actually intended for smaller more efficient 10 Watt LEDs like the ones we sell.

Getting ohh so closer to a 2017 Wee purchase, and (3) of your items are on my accessory list (lightbar/peg lowering kit/fork brace) :)

After looking at the pictures I think the PIAA lights I have would be too large with the stone guards and could interfere with the fender under hard riding. I have the large 3.5 inch led fogs, the 2.75 might be a better fit but would still have to hang below to clear the fender.

I would have to agree Richlandrich.. With the original lightbar I had the larger lights, although not quite as wide as 3.5 inches.. Note picture attached.. With the off-road riding, On one such adventure I damaged my cheap, modified skid plate my lights never kissed another structure such as the fender.. I think you can see the clearance in the picture.. If you are hitting stuff hard enough to significantly compress your front end you better be hitting straight on or you are toast IMHA..
If I can remember later this week when I return home, I can measure clearance with my old lights and let you know..

Ah much wider than the side view appears to be, I think the PIAA lights may fit after all. Unfortunately I've had to abandon the original front end of my bike entirely, the crash that caused the engine knock broke every plastic mounting piece on the fairing. I'll be going the cheap (ish) route comparatively to oem of a pair of massive round led lights to replace it. I will still weigh them for everyone's info as I finally have them off the bike.

Installation

Hello,

Has anyone out there actually installed this kit yet? I can't seem to find any installation instructions anywhere for it, just for a 1000. I'm assuming the instructions are similar, however there are no spacers with the 2012+ DL650 kit, and there are a couple extra brackets that I haven't figure out where to install yet. Also I'm assuming the only way to do this is to take the whole front cowling off?

Awesome thanks for the reply! So I think I've figuree everything out, except for what the two hexagonal pieces are that come with the kit? One has an offset slot cut into it and the other is threaded for bolts. It appears as if it clamps somewhere, but I can't see where it would fit anywhere around the main bracket, or the bar that you mount to ok the bike.
