You might want to call Twisted Throttle and check, if you have the old style ring on your bag, that might need changing too as they've gone to a new style ring and bag connector. Easier to put on but the upper half on the bag is plastic and completely different shape. A little easier to get on and mated with the tank ring. I just put one on mine. Had the old version but sold it with my GS. If you go to their website and bring up the Citybag and go to the bottom of the page, there's an install PDF and you can see what I mean.

Yeah, you definitely need both halves of the new ring. I went all the way and bought a new bag too.

SW-Motech Citybag and mount ring

In case you guys are interested, I took a few shots of the bag and the new mounting ring and mount. I've used these on 3 bikes now and love the bag. It never touches my tank and scratches it all up like my buddies bikes with their strap on mounts.

Bag sitting over tank

New style tank ring - much easier to mate with bag than old ring!

New bag ring mount plate, even comes with drill bit and template!

Thanks for the pictures Don,i did call twisted throttle today, they do sell the old style quick lock ring in the five bolt pattern,,,cost is 32,00,part#TRT.00.475.125,like you said you can put the new evo style on the bag and bike at a cost of 70.00 or 80.00 bucks he said, because i would need both top and bottom,i think i'll go with the old style, not as pretty as the new evo....stromdon

Hey Don,

I wondered if those were still available. Makes sense if you already have 1/2 of it, but I can tell you, the new style mounts much easier than the old. Sometimes at gas stops, I'd fiddle with the old style 30 seconds or more to get it "hooked" on those end "tits" and then locked down. The new one is beveled and if you're in the right vicinity just slides down the bevel and snaps on. Very slick. Either will do the trick and work fine for you tho.

Hi, would you please guys someone explain how to install the ring for 2012 V-Strom. The are so many bolts/screws in instruction at TwistedThrottle website and I am really confused!
Thanks a lot in advance!

trick sliding the bag on the tank ring...

I find it a "pain-in-the-ass" trying to slide the bad onto the ring. I feel like a retard getting down and looking for the slots to line eveything up.
Do you have to pull the the front cord out to make it go on correctly or does it is it suppose to just "snap" on?

Hi Resident
You don't need to take the ring itself off just take the bolts coinciding with the new rings holes. The bolts you take off the bikes ring are different sizes by length, so all I did was use bolts that were slightly longer out of what you get in the pack. Make sure you know which bolt you took from which hole to compare. I placed mine on the seat in the order they came out in so they go back the same way, hopefully this will make sense when you take the bolts out and see the different lengths.
You will have bolts left over, I think they give you a range of lengths to be sure of right fitment.
Hope this helps and will not cause more confusion for you.

The old style ring was a PITA but with the new style pictured inpost #7 of this thread, I have no problem whatsoever putting it on and dont have to get down and look under it. And no, you dont have to pull the cord on the ring shown above. It's beveled and snaps down on and locks. The cord just pulls the 4 contact points away to lift it off.

I really like the new style ring over the old one I had on my previous bike.
