Acceesories 2012 V-Strom

Man, most of these prices are outrageous!
For kicks I looked at British pricing: accessories lower, higher, bike price, ouch!

Touring windshield in U.S. $370, UK $195 USD (GBP 125)

Heated handgrips in U.S. $350, UK $418 USD (GBP 269)

Plastic top box in U.S. $325, UK $594 USD (GBP 382)
I think GB includes mount and locks, U.S. not included

Centerstand in U.S. $328, U.K. $288 USD (GBP 185)

2012 V-Strom base model, U.S. $8299, UK 10726 USD (GBP 6899)

The only sane price I see here is the U.S. base model bike

TwistedThrottle.com : ...by What Fits My Bike - Suzuki - V-Strom DL650, '12- - has more reasonable prices for stuff doing the same job without the Suzuki name.
I spoke with my small-ish dealer today and he said they ordered four DL-650s, one DL-650 Adventure model and one each of the DL-1000s.

We kind of agreed that the price difference between the regular and adventure 650 was a bit much, but he said they needed to have an upgraded one available in case a customer wants one.

Australian prices ($A price converted to $US):

Touring windshield in U.S. $370, $A483

Heated handgrips in U.S. $350, $A575

Plastic top box in U.S. $325, $A658

Centerstand in U.S. $328, $A501

2012 V-Strom base model, U.S. $8299, $A11,000

The Australian dollar is worth around the same as the $US today ie, $A500 = $US498. $500 for a centrestand? The chainguard is over $200 as well, yet an entire seat assembly is $337.

Givi

Givi-USA has posted the basic set of 2012 V-Strom products:

Cases, Side Hardbags, Soft Luggages, Screens, Spoilers SUZUKI DL 650 V-Strom

The old product listing is now at:

Cases, Side Hardbags, Soft Luggages, Screens, Spoilers SUZUKI DL 650 V-Strom

It appears that the "TN532" engine guard is the same (which indicates that other engine guards ought to translate), although to be safe I would order through the 2012 model page.

The "BF01" QuickLock mount also seems generic. So I would bet that this page so far just lists what the company has verified to fit the bike.

fit

The Suzuki website has the accessories listed for the new 650, prices are up a bit, it seems.. The dealer gave me a good price on the Lower Cowl, but the power socket and centerstand prices are up.
Do you know how a bash plate fit with the lower cowl?

thanks

Gord

Im not sure any bash plate will fit with the plastic lower cowl. It may be either one or the other. I dont need protection, the roughest I ride is forest fire roads. I just wanted to cover the oil filter and hoses.
