2012 DL650 brake switch recall

I just got the stator recall letter too.
But when I searched the Transport Canada recall site it didn't show the stator recall but listed a separate brake switch recall (see below) that I hadn't heard of before.

Recall Details
Transport Canada Recall # 2012039
Recall Date 2012/02/03
Notification Type Safety Mfr
System Lights And Instruments
Manufacturer Recall Number 91
Units Affected The number of vehicles or components affected by the recall. 185

Recall Details
On certain motorcycles, the brake light actuating switch (operated by the handlebar-mounted brake lever) may fail. Failure of the brake lamps to illuminate when the brakes are applied may result in the following road users being unaware of the rider’s intentions, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the front brake switch with an updated version.

The front brake light switch recall happened as the 2012 650 first came out. The original batch of switches had the problem.

Received my letter a few days back. I had also entered vin into comments section of Suzuki Canada's website asking about the recall a few weeks back and they quickly replied that my bike was affected. (Can't do a vin search in Canada as in the US), so any Canadians who may still be wondering (or those who have not updated info with Suzuki), try that route. I believe most all dl650's from 2012-2016 are affected though.

Got my notice too. It's a good thing, I suppose, as there was lots of speculation out there that the stators were bad.

As far as I know, the stator seems to be the only reliability complaint about the bike - is that right, or am I out of the loop?

Stators and headlight wiring were the big complaints for failures. Headlight relays will handle that.

I got a letter for my 2012 DL650 that I no longer own. The new owner probably hasn't told Suzuki (since he is parting it out anyway.)

..Tom
It actually isn't parted out... I sold off or used for myself most of the extra bits (seats, madstad, center stand, etc), but it is still a running and functional DL650 that is just biding its time in my shed... oh, I do use the wheels off of it fairly often as I swap between knobbies and PR4s. I'm actually still running the front Metzeler tire that came along with it... slowly, over the years, the bike will be continued to be used. It has not reached the end yet, I have projects in mind.

Perhaps I should bring it in to get the stator changed... I'll consider that in the spring when I can trailer it to the shop.
