Hi Guys,

Sorry title should have read TEMP gauge!!

Recently picked up a 2011 Vee and have a question about the temp gauge... The very top bar of the temp gauge is constantly on and displaying an outline of the bar (not filled in black). Should this be on? Why is it an outline? What does this mean?

Thanks!

My Vee has the same red outline and is the high temp mark.
When the started cold, the full bars will start from the bottom and rise to fill up to the normal 2-3 bar position.
If the engine temp becomes too hot the bars will fill up accordingly until it fills into the red outline and then the indicator light to the left will light up indicating an overheating condition is occurring.

The red outline is a warning symbol and is always there, even if the ignition is off. If that level fills in, the bike is overheating and should be turned off ASAP. The exception is when a CHEC is displayed at the normal clock position. That is an attention getter to help the rider notice the CHEC is there.
