2011 Purchase Quandry

Greeting,

I am in the process of buying a very lightly used 2011 DL650.

If you had to travel a good distance to see and pick up the bike (i.e. far away as no good ones are available locally), what would you do to ensure that the bike was honestly represented (i.e. pristine, never in an accident, original owner, broken in properly though it only has 300miles on it).

How could one verify such things sight unseen (aside from pictures)?

How are long distance purchases amongst unknown individuals managed to be fair to both parties?

Thanks and I am looking forward to joining the stromtrooper community?

I bought a 2007 FZ1 from a firefighter in Kentucky a few years ago. He had it posted on an FZ1 forum. He sent me quite a few pics, we talked on the phone and I researched all of his posts on the site. You can get a pretty good gauge on a person. Still with that big of a purchase, there still has to be caution. He had a friend that lived out here. He shipped the bike out here on his dime to his friend. I then went over to the friend and gave him the money for the bike. It worked out very well. I wouldn't buy from someone across country if they didn't belong to a forum like this and that you could do some research first.
