2007 Vstrom 650

Hello

The rear shock has failed on my 2007 WEE and wondering has anyone got a part number or a suggested replacement I could purchase? Or a link for such?
I asked a few places to re condition my OE one but said too much work. It's the one with the preload adjuster. It has no nitrogen canister. I'm not looking to get an expensive one just road riding in 🇮🇪.
TIA

I see the part number as 62100-06G60-13L for the UK version (Motorcycle Spare Parts). So 62100-06G61-13L might be the superseded version. Either number should work.

Oh, welcome to the forum, Jayman.

There is Sasquatch located in Idaho who can rebuild your shock to your weight and riding style. Google him, he does a good job for a fair price.

Look for a DL 1000 take off shock.
Daugherty Motorsports rebuilds DL650/1000 shocks. From what I understand, the DL1000 shock is internally a better shock than the DL650 shock. You could pull the dead 650 shock, ship it in for service and reinstall. To minimize down time and upgrade your bike you could track down a used DL1000 shock on ebay or wherever then have it serviced then install it.

In either case you should consider also having your shock resprung if you are over 200lbs or ride with passengers or carry luggage, etc. I currently have a DL1000 shock that was rebuilt and resprung by Daugherty on my Wee and it works great. Be aware though that the DL1000 shock will add about 3/4ths of an inch to the seat height but could be lowered back down with the right dog bone link if that is an issue.

Thanks for the info.
I didn't know the 1000 shock could be used. Possibly more spare 1000s parts around here.
You all did note where the OP was located....right?
