No critical differences, you can do most of the maintenance work on a 2005 using the 2002 Service Manual. Use the forum search feature, there are many posts describing the small changes on different model years.
2002 manual for 2005 bike?
I've been looking everywhere online and just can't seem to locate a service manual for my 2005 DL1000 that isn't waaaay overpriced or falling apart at the binding. I was able to locate a 2002 manual, and I'm wondering how much cross-compatibility there is between those model years. Will I be able to use this manual, or are there critical differences?

Thanks! Just spoke with my nearest dealer and they offered to order a new 2005 manual for me, at $200! I'll stick with the 2002 that I've already got.
