Brought my '12 V-Strom home today from the dealer. While checking the bike over I noticed that when pressing on the seat fabric on the wide section of seat forward 1/2 inch and continuing 6 inches forward of the embossed V-Strom panel it feels as if the seat cover is floating free above the seat foam. After pressing down 1/2 inch in the center of the area you can feel abrupt solid contact with the foam. Can someone check theirs for a comparison. I've linked a pic. The pen indicates the length of the area. It extends the width of the seat as well. Thanks

Yes, if it helps, it does settle down with some miles on it.

The L2 seat is flatter in the rider area which means it has a steeper step at the back of that, the vinyl will only conform so much.

Simple answer, no.

Mine (2012) feels one continuous piece. I would guess there is two contoured pieces and they have seperated? But I can't feel any gap in mine.

A lot of seats are like that. The seat on the $20k multistrada I test rode was like that.
